Cancun attractions, tours, excursions, activities

Since this is also a question that comes up again and again, I would like to create a detailed blog entry on the subject of Cancun sights, tours, excursions, activities.

In Cancun, I like the beaches ” Playa Caracol ” (Playa Caracol, Km. 9.5, Blvd. Kukulcan, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, QR) and ” Playa Chac Mool ” (Km. 8.5, Blvd. Kukulcan, Zona Hotelera, 77500). Cancún, QR) particularly well. Playa Caracol is the calm side of the sea and pretty much always like a pool with no waves. However, the stretch of beach for lying on is much narrower, since the public stretch of beach is between the “Mocambo” restaurant and the “Riu Hotel”.

Playa Chac Mool, on the other hand, is on the other side. The sea is much wilder, but not as wild as, for example, “Playa Delfines”. But the public beach section is much wider and you can rent beach chairs there or go straight to the Mandala Beach Club.

The sea on the beaches is getting wilder the further you go

drive up the hotel zone. For example, ” Playa Delfines ” (Blvd. Kukulcan, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, QR) is way too wild for me personally to swim. However, I have to say it is a beautiful, wide beach and a magnificent backdrop for taking photos. There you will also find the colorful ” CANCUN ” letters. The standard motif in Cancun for every holiday picture.

If you like water slides, the ” Venturapark ” is the right place for you. The park is nice. We went there last week for the second time in 2 years. The park itself is nice, especially for families with children. The park is nice, but not a highlight. I think that statement sums it up well. For a small surcharge you can turn the normal park entry into an “all-inclusive” entry. The food is a buffet and starts from 11am and is accessible throughout the day. I should say at this point that the food is “edible” but far from tasty. The same applies to alcoholic beverages. The alcohol is of the cheapest quality.

The ” Aquaworld ” (Boulevard Kukulcan km 15.3

,Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, QR), on the other hand, really surprised me in a positive way. There you don’t pay an entrance fee, you only pay for the desired activities. There you can book excursions and activities. We tried the ” FlowRider ” for an hour for little money.

You can find an overview of the shopping centers in Cancun and my recommendations here .

Also here you will find my recommendations for “nightlife and parties” in Cancun.

Isla Mujeres ” can be reached by ferry for about 16 EUR return. This island is small but nice and worth a visit! ” Playa Norte ” never has problems with seaweed on the beach and the water is almost always like a pool.

You should definitely rent a golf car there and explore the island with it. The golf car can be rented on Isla Mujeres and costs around 700 pesos per day. Alternatively, you can rent a scooter or a bicycle, neither of which I can recommend.

The “Parque Garrafon” and ” Parque de Los Sueños ” are also worth a visit in my opinion. Information and pictures can be found on the linked websites.

You can also do one locally on Isla Mujeres

Snorkeling tour in the underwater museum (we did it once and I thought it was great!!!), a catamaran tour, visiting the turtle farm or swimming with dolphins.

A very special attraction that I will do this year is swimming with whale sharks in the open sea . Since the whale sharks can only be found in the sea off Isla Mujeres from June to September, this tour can only be booked during this period.
