Cozumel Excursions, Sightseeing and Scuba Diving

As most of you noticed, we finally went to Cozumel last weekend.

Of course I don’t want to withhold from you what I think of the island, how to get there and which hotels I particularly liked.

We drove from Cancun to Playa del Carmen and parked the car in a public parking lot in a small shopping center. Alternatively, you can of course also take the ADO bus to Playa del Carmen.

From there we went via 5th Avenue to the ferry to Cozumel. The ferry takes about 40 minutes to get to the port on Cozumel. The port is directly opposite the center. There are some bars and restaurants there. However, there is no nightlife like in Playa del Carmen or Cancun.

The island is very quiet with many beautiful hotels.

However, you need a car or a scooter on site. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for short distances. The taxis are right at a station at the port of Cozumel. You can only get there or call a taxi from the hotel as you cannot hail them on the street.

In my opinion you should definitely rent a scooter or a car to explore the island. There is a “rocky” side and once the beach side. However, the “rocky” side should not be underestimated. The colors of the water are varied and beautiful!

The beach side is of course not to be despised. So my tip, be sure to look at both! This island is paradise on earth!

Cozumel is also great for day trips

, if you have your hotel in Playa del Carmen or nearby. A day trip from Cancun is quite strenuous but doable.

Many tours, such as a visit to the ” El Cielo ” beach, can be booked directly from one of the local dealers when you arrive by ferry. In my opinion the tour that everyone should do! Truly stunning and beautiful.

Since Cozumel is quite large, there are many different tours that you can do. All tours can be booked online , on site or in Playa del Carmen etc.

Another highlight is diving on Cozumel.

Since Cozumel has the second largest barrier reef in the world, diving there is an unforgettable experience! Diving can also be booked at a number of street vendors, in hotels or online .

In my opinion, this island is paradise on earth and should be visited when vacationing in the Riviera Maya. It doesn’t matter whether you spend just a day trip or a few days there. It is not for nothing that the island has its own small airport and the cruise ships in the Caribbean always head for this island.

I would like to give you a few hotel recommendations on Cozumel:
